Careers

SmashDown is based in Woodstock, Cape Town and runs rage room experiences for individuals, groups and event teams across the Western Cape. We hire practical people who are calm under pressure, comfortable with people, and happy working in a busy venue environment.

Work in a venue where every shift is hands on

Working at SmashDown means being part of a team that helps guests get set up, briefed and ready for a supervised smash session. The work is active, fast paced and suited to people who can keep things organised while staying friendly and professional.

Our team supports bookings from Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Somerset West, Bellville and nearby areas, so the work can include group events, private sessions, birthday bookings, student groups and corporate team events. No two days are quite the same.

The roles we hire for

We recruit for a range of front of house and operations roles depending on business needs. Some positions focus on guest bookings and admin, others on venue operations, event coordination or safety briefings. We also hire people who can support mobile events and on site event setup.

  • Bookings and admin support
  • Venue operations and guest hosting
  • Safety briefing and session supervision
  • Group event coordination
  • Set up, cleaning and venue prep
  • Mobile event support for functions and activations

What good candidates usually bring

We look for people who communicate clearly, stay composed when the venue is busy, and treat every guest with respect. A background in hospitality, events, customer service, retail, security or operations can be useful, but attitude and reliability matter just as much.

  • Good timekeeping and a strong work ethic
  • Comfort speaking to individuals and groups
  • Attention to detail with safety and venue standards
  • Ability to work weekends, peak periods and event days
  • Confidence following procedures and giving clear instructions

Safety, briefing and guest care are part of the job

Our sessions are run with clear briefings and protective gear such as a helmet, face shield, gloves, overalls and closed shoes. Staff help guests understand the rules before a session starts and make sure the space is ready and tidy before the next group comes in. That means care and consistency are important in every role.

We expect team members to be alert, presentable and able to spot issues early. A good shift is one where guests feel looked after and the venue runs smoothly, even when the day is full.

Based in Woodstock, serving events across the Western Cape

Our base is in Woodstock, Cape Town, with work that can stretch across surrounding areas including Observatory and Salt River as well as wider bookings in Stellenbosch, Paarl, Somerset West and Bellville. Some roles are venue based, while others may involve supporting off site events and coordination.

For the right person, this is a practical workplace with variety, direct guest interaction and proper team support. It suits people who enjoy event environments and want to build experience in a growing local business.
